8 Simple Rituals to Transform Your Daily Routine

Everyone has their own daily routine, whether it be down to habit or set with intention. Your own individual routine ultimately has an impact on your happiness, productivity and energy levels for that day, and it can also impact your health and wellbeing in the long-term!

Making some simple and intentional changes or additions to your routine can have a considerable, positive effect on your daily life. It’s true what they say - small changes can make a big difference!

Check out some simple rituals that can help to transform your daily routine - for the better

-

1. Write down your goals for the day

It can be easy for so many to feel overwhelmed in the fast-paced society that we live in! There are more pressures and more commitments than ever before. Setting out your goals for the day and writing them down is a simple way to organise the tasks you need to do - and it’s even more satisfying when you can tick them off! Goals can be big or small, whether it be a task for work or something such as remembering to put the dishwasher on. Try setting these goals on a daily basis and see its impact on your productivity and sense of achievement.

2. Tidy your space

Tidy space, tidy mind! Tidying may or may not come naturally to you, but it can certainly go a long way in helping you to clear your head and create your own little sanctuary. If you work at a desk, either in the office or at home, try to make the effort to tidy up. Get into the habit of tidying things away at the end of the day so you can come back to a clean space the following morning! Equally, make sure to tidy your bed before you start your day, so you have a calming space to retreat to at the end of it.

3. Drink more water

Water is so important! Hydration affects your cognition, metabolism, sleep, organ function, mood and more! Yet so many of us are guilty of not drinking enough water each day. If this applies to you, try to make a conscious effort to drink more and stay hydrated. Consider setting reminders on your phone so you don’t forget, until it eventually becomes part of your natural daily routine!

4. Gentle Exercise

Don’t worry, we’re not here to tell you to run a marathon - although that would of course be great! - but no, we’d like to encourage you to carry out a little bit of gentle and mindful exercise each day. Maybe you can fit in a short walk on your lunch break, or wind down with some slow yoga practice on an evening. If you’re really pressed for time but spend a lot of your day on the phone, get up and walk around whenever you take a phone call. Watch those steps increase and reap the physical and mental benefits of movement.

5. Let some fresh air in!

Fresh air helps to improve blood pressure, heart rate, digestion and more! These somewhat surprising health benefits make opening your windows and spending time outside even more important to your daily routine. Let some fresh air into your home or office throughout the day, and try to get outside at least once a day.
